Oprah’s latest favorite thing is out presidential candidate ‘Pete Buttabeep’

Is out presidential candidate Pete Buttigieg Oprah Winfrey’s new favorite thing?

In an interview with the Hollywood Reporter, Oprah quickly shot down the interview’s suggestion that she might run for president and tossed out Buttigieg’s name as the candidate she’s most interested in. Well, maybe not quite his name.

“Right now, I’m studying the field. I’m reading Shortest Way Home by [Pete Buttigieg], I call him Buttabeep, Buttaboop,” she laughed. “The name’s either going to really hurt or [really help] — I think it’s going to help, actually.”

“Just the other day, I was at Apple with Spielberg and we were in the hallway talking about, ‘What are we going to do?’ And I said, ‘Have you heard of this Butta guy?’ He goes, ‘No, Butta-who?’ I go, ‘Buttabeep, Buttaboop. Look him up.’

“I call him ‘Butta’.”

Later in the interview, Oprah brought the topic back to Mayor Pete. She misses interviewing people sometimes, she said, and Buttigieg is at the top of her list.

“Last year, I would’ve wanted to sit down and have a conversation with Christine Blasey Ford. Right now, I’d probably want to sit down and talk to Butta,” she said.

“I knew it was coming back to Butta,” the interviewer quipped.

“I’d like to see what’s up with Butta,” Oprah laughed.
