This TV personality’s mom was there to support him when he came out to America

A television personality was inspired to come out on National Coming Out Day this past week.

Luis Sandoval, a reporter on Univision’s morning show Despierta America!, came out in a live segment earlier this week.

“Today is a very important day for me, today I decide to share my story publicly,” he said.

“Ladies and gentlemen, I, Luis Sandoval, I am gay, I am happy, I am a full person, respected, I think respectable, and I do not live in the closet, my family knows, my friends know, and I have a partner with whom I am happy.”

He and the host then talked about Jamel Myles, the 9-year-old boy who died by suicide after he came out at school, and the conversation got emotional.

“And then I started to see people criticizing the mother,” he said. ”’This is your fault, you exposed your son to these things, you deserve it.'”

His mother was invited to the show, and she came out and told him that she is proud of him…. and called parents who don’t accept their LGBT kids “stupid.”
