Wanda Sykes: ‘I was not booed off stage’ for Donald Trump jokes

In response to reports that emmy-winning actress Wanda Sykes was booed off the stage at a charity event in Boston this past weekend, the standup comic clarified what happened in a post on Facebook.

“First of all, I was not booed OFF stage,” Sykes wrote Monday night. “I didn’t go anywhere. I was booed while ON stage in the middle of my set. Some people in the audience didn’t want to hear my Trump jokes. Hell, I couldn’t even get to the punchlines. They were booing the setups. They were yelling for me to shut the F up and to go F myself, so I simply told them how that made me feel.”

This happened Saturday at the 22nd annual Comics Come Home fundraiser, which benefits The Cam Neely Foundation for Cancer Care, at the TD Garden arena, according to the Boston Herald.

Smokeroom.com reports Sykes called president-elect Trump “racist, sexist and homophobic.”

After those jokes bombed and were met with boos, Sykes flipped off the audience and told them, “Fuck all y’all,” reported Entertainment Weekly.

Video capturing the ugly clash was posted to YouTube:

Sykes set the record straight on Facebook Monday night.

One of the points she addressed in her post was reports that a mystery woman greeted her as she left the stage, and they embraced.

The person described as “some woman,” Sykes wrote, “happens to be my beautiful wife, ran onstage, gave me a huge kiss, and flashed the peace sign. To my surprise, the audience cheered and applauded. It was a great moment and it gave me a little hope for our future.
