Sign of things to come: Trump names member of hate group to transition team

President-elect Donald Trump’s choice to head his administration’s domestic policy is a leading member of a group designated by the Southern Poverty Law Center as an extremist hate group, a man who compared gays to kleptomaniacs and arsonists, and who famously said: “I think homosexuality is a lifestyle, it’s a choice, and that lifestyle can be changed,” and called it “a transgression against God’s law, God’s will.”

His name is Ken Blackwell, senior fellow at the Family Research Council, and according to AmericaBlog, among other reports, Trump named him to formulate domestic policy for his first 100 days.

In 2014, Blackwell blamed marriage equality in California for a killing spree, and in 2011 the former secretary of state in Ohio boasted about his successful efforts to defeat marriage equality in his home state.

Here’s another quote from Blackwell to show where he stands on LGBTQ rights:

“The reality is, again…that I think we make choices all the time. And I think you make good choices and bad choices in terms of lifestyle. Our expectation is that one’s genetic makeup might make one more inclined to be an arsonist or might make one more inclined to be a kleptomaniac. Do I think that they can be changed? Yes.”

    Farewell My Concubine (1993)

"Farewell, My Concubine" is a movie with two parallel, intertwined stories. It is the story of two performers in the Beijing Opera, stage brothers, and the woman who comes between them. At the same time, it attempts to do no less than squeeze the entire political history of China in the twentieth century into a three-hour time-frame.
