Police release grisly photo of gay serial killer’s potential victim

Toronto police have released a photo of a potential victim of the city’s alleged gay serial killer, Bruce McArthur. Officials would not say where the body was found or why they think the dead man is a victim.

“I do not want to release this picture and I’m doing so as a last resort,” police spokesperson Hank Idsinga told reporters according to the Toronto Star. “I’ve never done this. I do it with great hesitation.”

Police also didn’t say why the victim’s body wasn’t decomposed since other of McArthur’s victims were found buried in pieces in planters. McArthur, a self-employed landscaper, hid the bodies in multiple locations – including his client’s property.

It’s possible that the photo wasn’t taken by police and is an old picture discovered among McArthur’s possessions.

McArthur was arrested in Toronto on January 18 on suspicion of killing Andrew Kinsman, 49, and Selim Esen, 44. Both men went missing from the city’s Gay Village.

He has now been charged with the murder of six men – — Selim Esen, 44, Skandaraj “Skanda” Navaratnam, 40, Andrew Kinsman, 59, Majeed Kayhan, 58, Dean Lisowick, 47, and Soroush Mahmudi, 50.

CNN reports that McArthur’s arrest shocked residents of Toronto’s Gay Village who recognized him from bars and shops. With McArthur’s sophistication, police now say the investigation may take years, the Canadian Broadcasting Company reports.
