Ivanka Trump gave a speech on women’s empowerment in Japan & no one showed up

Sean Spicer may not be in the White House any longer, but his legacy continues. His infamous angry exaggeration of the size of Donald Trump‘s inauguration became legendary and apparently served as a guide for those who followed in his footsteps.

As President Trump and his family continue to embarrass the country during a tour across Asia, Japanese women turned the tables in the most polite way possible. They didn’t show up.

Ivanka Trump was scheduled to speak on “women’s empowerment” in a speech in Tokyo. While she arrived in style and hosted a “luxurious dinner” before speaking, according to Vogue the president’s daughter rose to speak to a nearly empty room.

A White House spokesperson told reporters that security measures had prevented people from getting in the room, even though no one was in queue to get in. Organizers quickly moved people to the front of the room for better optics as Trump spoke.

During her speech, Trump told the group that sexual harassment “can never be tolerated” and “all too often, our workplace culture fails to treat women with appropriate respect.” Her father, of course, was widely decried for his repeated remarks about women’s looks, misogynistic comments, and the leaked audio of his disgusting talk with Billy Bush where he bragged about sexually assaulting women.

Trump bragged that when he is around pretty women he  will “grab ’em by the pussy. [When you’re a star] you can do anything.”
