Finally, Hoover wasn't racist: He was suspicious and perhaps even paranoid of any radical or reactionary movement. Dr. King was, for his time, a radical. His movement, though mostly positive, was disruptive. Hoover distrusted this, but Hoover distrusted the KKK and other such groups also- he wanted order and was sometimes overzealous, but not racist.

A typical lib way of trying to tear down a conservative is to portray him as a closet gay and thus by extension a hypocrite. J. Edgar Hoover was not homosexual. His relationship with Dorothy Lamour was genuine. When free to speak and probably given lucrative offers to "tell all" about their dead boss, everyone from the FBI said Hoover was straight.

Hoover was basically the best friend the American people had for almost 50 years. When the real stuff went down, you were glad to have the FBI protecting you. It's as Jessup said, you need him on that wall. Fingerprint databases, modern forensic labs- Hoover! If there was trouble, every whiny liberal would cower and beg for Hoover's help.

there's a great connections between movies here. So J. Edgar had written about FBI agents should not go on undercover tasks bcuz there's a chance they can be corrupted and he was almost very right bcuz they sent Donnie Brasco into the mob family of many illegal activities in which later he was growing sympathy and emotion towards the mob lefty.. Donni brasco played by Johnny Deep who later played John Dillinger in public enemies is now mentioned or showed here of his name and what seems like a face cast of John. It would be quite cool if there was an cross over or cameo by Johnny deep as John Dillinger!

Superb Acting from Di Caprio, but I agree with the critics- the film was incoherent, all over the place.

If this movie teaches anything, it demonstrates the need for checks and balances, even in the FBI. A person with absolute power and no accountability is dangerous, they fear and are accountable to no one. It doesn't help if you are morally or ethically challenged and have a need to attain and sustain power by any means necessary.
