Description In an adaptation of Patricia Highsmith's seminal novel The Price of Salt, CAROL follows two women from very different backgrounds who find themselves in an unexpected love affair in 1950s New York. As conventional norms of the time challenge their undeniable attraction, an honest story emerges to reveal the resilience of the heart in the face of change. A young woman in her 20s, Therese Belivet (Rooney Mara), is a clerk working in a Manhattan department store and dreaming of a more fulfilling life when she meets Carol (Cate Blanchett), an alluring woman trapped in a loveless, convenient marriage. As an immediate connection sparks between them, the innocence of their first encounter dims and their connection deepens. While Carol breaks free from the confines of marriage, her husband (Kyle Chandler) begins to question her competence as a mother as her involvement with Therese and close relationship with her best friend Abby (Sarah Paulson) come to light.

Is it actually any good or is this just more of Todd Haynes Cannes and critic bait?

If you could do A Music Video for these Two what song would you choose.  I would Choose "I Only Have Eyes For You" by The Flamingos that I think is one of the greatest love songs of all time.

Too bad this conservative state has absolutely no showtimes for this movie. It's more than depressing, was really looking forward to this. Hate this town :/

This looks rad. But I bet the ending is sad. You can tell. What lesbian movie gets that sucessful that doesn't end with one of them killing themselves or splitting up do you know? I'm asking this. Usually they either have to break up or kill one of them off to make it that far. Sad but true. There may be some exceptions though. I'm just not aware of it.

This movie was *exquisite* all around. This really needs to be experienced by everyone. A film hasn't affected and stayed with me like this in a long time.

Cate Blanchett has all the talent of Meryl Streep (whom I adore) plus all the glamour and style of an old Hollywood movie goddess..

All things aside, this looks like a typical romance film. I'm sure Cate Blanchett will be great, as always, but it doesn't look like anything new with the exception of who's swooning who.
