Description At an elite girls boarding school, the award winning diving team is considered the premier group of girls in the school. When a new girl from Spain, Fiamma, comes to the school and joins the team, the rest of the squad is jealous of her relationship with the coach and force her off the team and out of the school by bullying her. When the girl is forced to rejoin the group, they decide to let her into their social circle and begin to be as fascinated with her as their coach is. But things take a turn when the coach's fascination turns into a physical relationship between Fiamma and herself.

Unfulfilled dreams and too much escapism in literature = Eva's character

Ive seen this movie twice already and of course im fascinated by it. The script, the characters, the fashion in the 30s, the amazing Eva Green :) Mostly i like this movie cause i enjoy watching good psychological movies. And Miss G is such a complex character, indeed. She lives through the stories she reads in the books. Through the young girls lives, who have a bright future infront of them. She is traped in her own hell with idyllic nature a.k.a. the elite British boarding school. She doesnt have her own life. She is facade of the life she wants. At moments we empathize with her, we see her as a person whose dreams & illusions were crushed. She is terrified to escape her comfort zone (the boarding school). The world aside the boarding school terrifies her and suffocates her. She acts like she has agoraphobia (The scene in the supermarket. >The term "agoraphobia" was coined by the German psychiatrist Carl Friedrich Otto Westphal, from Greek ἀγορά, meaning "large public square/marketplace" and -φοβία, -phobia, meaning "fear"). She is fragile, emotional, unstable. Infront of the girls shes different: brave, confident, adventurous, bold, enigmatic, charismatic. She enjoys to charms with telling them (made up) stories about her traveling experiences. At first we see the bright, positive side od her persona. Then its shown her very dark side of her persona. Living in that world of lies, which she made herself, she becomes cruel person, sex offender, and a murderer. She has some sort of psychological disorder. She falls in love with one of the girls, her student. Her love is wrong on so many levels. She becomes possesive, sick, and dangerous. The "cracks" are in her. The cracks are in her good side. The cracks are in her bad side. She becomes a "crack" in the young girls lives, who will remeber Miss G forever. The cracks are also in the female relationships. In one moment they can help each other, and in the next they're so cruel with each other. The cracks are in the female mind and soul. The male characters are excluded. Fisicaly - they are here, but they arent important like the female characters. The female characters are the "heart" of the movie. This movie explores the painfull side of growing up and losing the innocense. Miss G believes that the most important thing in life is desire. Her desires are sick and twisted. At the same time she is a sufferer and a villain, with whom we emphatize but also we want her to be punished. The murder of the young girl is a murder of the innocense, pureness, goodness.

I just read the book after watching this movie again,,THE book was SO DIFFERENT, MORE DISTURBING, WEIRD but its well written though still different to the movie. the movie was sad and tragic, and the book was strange and insane,,, the movie has short list of character not the same to the book  .. i get confuse about it, it was gamble differently.. in the movie theres only one who is crazy(miss g), in the book all of them are crazy... Especially the swimming team... And don't miss the last part of the book THE WORST THING HAPPen,i think its Brit version thaats y... i prefer the movie but the book was enthralling..

i remember watching this movie and i got emotionally disturbed for 5days.. this is more like a classic version of the movie Bloomington and Loving Annabelle with a very dramatic ending. Too much obsession, the girl didn't deserve it.
