Even though many people they arent telling the story with the accurate people who should be represented I would still like to see this movie. Or hopefully they make some changes and then make it. It looks like a very interesting story and Ive never heard anything about it. I dont understand why the movie producers though it would be ok knowing the tensions that are going on right now with race and the LGBT community now.

I think you're missing the point, the kansas city boy is not here to represent a white polished vision of the history, but to criticize the fact that in Kansas, there is still a poor evolution about gays today. He represents the outsider from a very conservative place who thanks to the Stonewall riots and those who fights, could/can find the courage to live his life with his own values and not hide like his companion did. He is the young candid, the Columbia boy, the one who's saved. I just think, like you, that they could let the first stone to the right historical character, the black trans.. it felt a bit stupid when he suddenly is represented as a leader in this scene, even not knowing the history, it wasn't realistic. But it's still a good movie, for me, not gay, it made me understand how bad was the situation and it moved me.

I'm a filmmaker and a bisexual male and it clearly says inspired by true events not that it based everything so for all of you bitching know filmmakers do this to at least let the mainstream audiences know of this event. Try thinking about that next time you all bitch about your discontent life
