Mississippi I Am (2012)

Director Harriet Hirshorn, Katherine Linton

Genre Documentary

Year 2012

Actors Lance Bass, Constance McMillen

Description In 2006, 'NSync's Lance Bass came out publicly as gay. Once the "most beloved son" of his home state of Mississippi, he was instantly rejected and his hopes that Mississippi could ever embrace change were dashed. Then in 2010 he heard the story of Constance McMillen, 18, who was suing her school for denying her the right to go to the prom with her girlfriend. Something was shifting even in the most socially conservative states in America. MISSISSIPPI: I AM, examines the relatively new battle on the part of primarily young LGBT people to bring gay civil rights and visibility out in the open and beyond division.

When I was a kid . I watched this movie with my family. My brother got so angry he hit the seat at the movie theater. The scene when the old African American man woke his family up and told them to leave the farm house. The old man end up being lynched by a mob of crazy whites. The little boy was holding his dad head and telling him to breathe and don't died. Little of a tear jerk moment !!!

I watched this movie right few days after finishing Mafia 3. The whole time I was picturing Lincoln Clay stepping in and murdering all the KKK members.

Mississippi is still the worst place to live in western society! One of the reasons why a lot of western countries are still thinking that America is a dumb racist shithole

Due agenti federali indagano su tre omicidi di cui è sospettato il Ku Klux Klan. Alan Parker mescola ritmo e passione civile in un film che tiene col fiato sospeso.
