Morrissey helped resurrect this pearl buried in the muck of too much hype, too much sincerity, and little luck :( He is not forgotten, however, to those in the know. Cheers!

How they didn't interview Morrissey for this documentary is beyond me!

Why is it that the pioneers and the people who have the greatest influence on society always die so young?

@trentigalaxy:Why should a Brit narrate it do you think? Jobriath was American.

I just discovered Jobriath. He was like David Bowie and Elton John at the same time with a little Marc Bolan mixed in. It is funny how his sound was similar to these British composers and yet the British rockers today cite this guy as an influence. His music is extraordinary at its best and "little Dreamer" is an actual masterpiece. His life was short and he could have made more music.

I've been a fan of Jobriath for some time, and I have the albums, and I love how queer he was, but I bet they will overstate the homophobic aspect to his downfall and not the fact that really, he was over-hyped and not all that good of a songsmith as Bowie was/is.

Nice to see my East Village pal Ann Magnuson in here! Cute clip. I sure remember this time. I was a young teen in the Rust Belt in '73!

Oh, yes, some movies I really like even if they are just silly but upon a recent re-viewing, I found PARADISE so bad it drove me wild. I used to see Paul Williams on Griffin and am disappointed I cannot appreciate him in a major role, but oh, well. There are several utterly silly, pointless movies I still like anyone but this one, it hasn't grown on me in time. sigh It does happen! xo :)

no getting anything past you, is there, kid.
  • emma duncan 2013-10-21 02:23:22
I enjoyed the Phantom of the paradise! just campy fun...I mean, come-on! any film that has former Merv Griffin/Mike Douglas mainstay, Paul Williams, as a Rock God, has got something going for it!

Sean Penn should do the biopic
  • CuteCatFaith 2013-08-04 17:32:40
I though the character called "Beef" in that dreadful movie, PHANTOM OF THE PARADISE, was based on Jobriath.

    i want it! NOW
  • egrorian1 2013-03-22 23:02:10
why on earth should Morrisey have been asked to appear? Just because he is a famous fan and selected tracks for a compilation?!

Jobriath was not well known for demonstrating physical affection towards members of the opposite sex, just as Ms Hindley was not well known for exhibiting nurturing behaviour towards children.
