I think Darby may still be alive, that's cool - don't chase around it though. I don't know.

Grand film-tnx 4 sharing it. Its obvious that main stream media put lots of efforts erasing integral important parts of our history so that anti-system mov. wouldnt inspire nor link 2 the present

Sorry, I meant DIY=Do It Yourself, DRI is the Dirty Rotten Imbeciles a fast, hardcore band from California in the early 80's that only put out two 7 inch singles, to the best of my knowledge

Thanks for posting. I don't know how they could get insight into the mind of Darby. Sure, you can talk to others who were in the band/part of the scene/etc. But our memories tend to change over time into what we want them to, from our own perspective. Dreams, memories are ultimately all we have left when that final curtain closes. In my opinion, the Germs weren't the best band or song-writers, but they helped blazed a trail for other bands to follow. We were sick of what the corporations were jamming down our throats, so it was a DIY (acronym, not the band Dirty Rotten Imbeciles) start the band, draw a flyer, get the instruments, and learn to play at your gig. The audience didn't know what to do, just wanted to be a part of something different, hence the fights/riots/police brutality. The funniest thing of all, is that what we were all singing about is now coming true. If you live in the USA, notice it has become a police state filled with MDC's ( the band's second acronym Multi-Death Corporations.) The new left is filled with pacifist, wanna be hipster posers, who think because they read something on the internet, or saw a movie, that they know what it is or was like. We are all in big trouble now. You can't be a pacifist and anarchist at the same time and survive for very long. At least not in this world, as there are too many institutionalized people who want to take the little bit you have economically, force their ideals on you socially, and will beat/rape/kill you physically. Emotionally? Sit there and shut up if you disagree with the radical left or be accused of hate crimes, then the beatings and worse to follow. You just lost free speech pal ! Censorship of the press/internet will be next, it's already started. People afraid to speak their minds..... 1930's Germany, Communist Russia, Communist China/Cambodia/Laos/Vietnam/North Korea/Central and South America. And now, 2010's USA. This is just my opinion, and worth what you paid for it....nothing. The punk scene couldn't survive in this current atmosphere, the police state would shut it down immediately, probably using agent provocateurs If you disagree, walk a mile in my shoes a mile or so. Come to Baltimore with nothing but the brain in your head, clothes on your back, and empty pockets. See how long you can hold out. I am easy to find here and will even help show you the ropes (which is more than anyone did for me.) Anyway, enough ranting. Thank you for posting the video and rekindling an old flame. Have a good day and remember punk is an attitude, not clothing or music, or at least it was. Also, please please please keep in mind that there is no greater abomination than the indifference of good men towards evil. That's what punk was....our way to show we aren't indifferent to the evil going on in the world on any given day. We just didn't know what else to do. Thanks again for posting and for anybody taking the time to read or comment on this. Peace, JS

the germs were a cool band but Darby crash ,based on lyrics and interviews, was not a brilliant guy. being opinonated and being intelligent aren't the same
