As I began to watch this, I just started to cry. These individuals, albeit they have violated the law and they must pay their debt. Their stories however, are so incredibly moving, so emotional and gut wrenching for the life they were made to live while incarcerated. Horrible discrimination before they got to prison and triple when they went to is proof like no other that our country, dare I say, the world...are so cruel to these people because they fear what they don't or won't understand. I wish for all of these special and unique people all the best that life can give them without compromising who they are. God loves all of us, just as he made to say love/compassion should NOT be withheld/denied because of what is between our legs. Thank you for this upload, appreciated!! :)

I really wonder if these people would be in prison if they were allowed treatment and not discriminated against in employment.

67 years for a black transgender woman for robbing a bank. there are a shitload of fucking people that kill others and get a lot less number of years in jail than her. the system is so fkn corrupt.

I actually met Linda today in Oregon. She asked me if I wanted to learn something. Of course, I am always down to learn something new. She told me 'Just a sec, let me grab my purse ' - So many things were running through my mind as I had just stopped for a second to give her a couple bucks and to Thank her for letting me take a photo of her sign. The sign read: (Thank You Jessus, Honk for TRUMP, Just say NO to HIllary! Home-Less Transgender: Anything Helps.) She walked back and handed me a card, asked if I knew how to run a computer and to please watch this 60 minute documentary of her story. I have never been against Transgender, Homosexuality or any race, religion, color, human being in general. This was quite humbling and an eye opener for even myself. I could not imagine having to hide who I am, for a Job. That would be like me hiding under a mans coat and cutting my hair off JUST to be "societies version of acceptable" to get a career advancement. I would not do it, there is absolutely no way I would hide who I am just to make someone else feel comfortable. I feel for these ladies, I really do. (P.S. I really didn't understand the support for Trump part of the sign)

I wish that Linda could get a job working the oil fields and make some good money. Idk why she doesn't just put her hair up, bind the breasts, not put on makeup and wear either male clothes or gender neutral clothes to work. I guess if her new legal name is Linda Patricia Thompson then that wouldn't work tho because she would have to give them whatever legal name & social security # in order to get paid and record their taxes. But if she could just live as male during the hours at work then that's her best bet. I do understand that Linda doesn't want to live life like that and that's why she came out in the first place but the world we live in makes it very difficult for someone as masculine to get any kind of job while wearing women's clothing & having a female name.

They should have only interviewed to of these transgender women. Because the rest of them look like men & they should be in men prison. If i look at you & i see a man then you are a man in drag, & calling your self anything else is disrespectful to women.

I wonder what the circumstances are now for all these brave people.

What about the straight men that are subject to rape in male prisons? Is their story not as important as a transgendered person's? The only time people care about you is when you look like a woman. Why don't you put female to male transgendered into male's prison's then, if you are going to follow this chain of logic. Oh, you won't even think about it, because you know male prison's are much more harsh, but don't want to acknowledge it.

@15:43     The man with the alias "Patty Lou Hagan" was convicted and sent to prison  for severely injuring a woman when she objected to him being in the women's restroom in a restaurant/bar.     At well over 6' 4" tall and weighing far more than twice her weight, he cornered her and viciously beat her without mercy, knocking most of her teeth out before leaving her unconscious on the floor in the women's restroom.     As the Judge pointed out, this was NOT a "bar fight", as this man tries to portray and downplay his crime in the documentary.     Make no mistake, these men are violent predators as well as sexual deviants.     Protect the privacy and rights of women from these deluded men in women only spaces.

what about a transgender prison unit to protect these people , this is serious and needs sorting out  , transgender people are preyed on and so vunerable in mens prisons  and everyone knows this   so why are these poor souls being abused just for being who  they are , it makes me mad
  • Zumma Gonzalez 2015-06-28 13:11:18
Rape is a horrific crime against everyone! What trailrunner925 said is correct, rape happens too many people in jail no matter what your gender is; women have raped other women, men have raped other men and those poor small, young or handsome males gets sexually abused the most, and those petite women in jail pretty much have no chance of defending themselves against the much larger women, there have even been cases where even prison guards get raped. I know life is rough but if you want to avoid jail don't commit a crime, if you need money and can't get a job there is no shame in going to apply for public assistance because that's what those services are for.

i'm a 63 year old m to f transgender, i have never been involved with the justice system. i live in NC and have been discriminated against, stigmatized and marginalized by the health care system, primarily by Duke University and the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. i have been treated so badly by these institutions that my health is in jeopardy. it took me 2 years to finally get diagnosed with cancer even with a rather large tumor on my neck. everywhere i went all the Dr's blew me off, they eventually sent me to a psychiatrist who also blew me off.after 2 years i developed pneumonia and was hospitalized where i was diagnosed with stage 4 lymphoma. that is only one of many instances. i have never been made to feel welcomed by the health care system here. i feel i have been subjected to cruel and unusual punishment by Duke and UNC. i know it's not like being in prison but to be treated like a mongrel mangey mutt is pretty bad in its self. has anyone else had such bad experiences with the health care system?
