Now I know that woman....she was in one of the Alfred Hitchcock TV series...that face is pure evil!

Nobody could play FILTHY & DISGUSTING better than Elizabeth Ashley.  I remember a role she played as a nurse forcing elderly nursing home residents to sign over their assets to her before she killed them.  Same personality as here, and she used the cigarette to heighten our feelings of revulsion toward her in that film, too.

There should be nothing shocking today about this movie. Lifetime makes this genre all the time. And the cat in the freezer is the rabbit in the pot. It was just slow and we had jumped to another level of understand about police war and the criminal mind. It was the beginning but we had seen and heard enough to think about the slow in the up take of the cop. It was slow and no longer did people think the women would have been so unhinged. Darker criminal minds were being noticed. We knew better. Not fully. Just better and today we know the women killer was not like that.

Almost twenty thumbs down so let me guess nineteen angry lesbians. Pretty good movie so I cannot understand all the negative critiques. The critics are mentally disturbed becausssseeeee they are homo thats why. Homosexuality is a mental illness and homosexuality is natures way of saying this one is not to reproduce because there is someton wong width de  D  N  A. There needs to be medical research to find a cure or prevent the loving of ones on kind. Look peope we got to find the cure. Jerry Lewis could host the telethon to raise $$$$ for the cure. We could try prevention for some types and play this movie in elementry schools and quiz the kids on details. Also we could ban gay propaganda like the great leader Vladimir Putin did in Russia. Sure wish Putin could run for POTUS in 2016 he would straighten dis country out.

This is an incredibly shitty film, but the climactic ending scene was a gold nugget. Nothing makes my spine tingle as much as ominous extended pure verbal interplay between two quality actors.

Even on this upload, where you can expect the quality will be much lower than on a remastered DVD or Bluray, Gordon Willis' photographic talents are everywhere in abundance. Too bad it's attached to such a lifeless and boring would-be thriller, with terrible performances all around and especially from Talia Shire. I'd never even heard of it until reading notices on Willis' passing. From what I've read about it, Willis didnt like being in the director chair having to deal with actors trying to find their character, so he went back behind the camera where he belonged after this bombed. It's best to watch with the sound on mute, so you can bask in Willis' bravura camera placements and composition without listening to the stilted dialogue and awful performances. RIP, Prince of Darkness. Your camera work remains immortal on Manhattan, the Godfathers, and in many other classics.

Don't know why this film was so maligned by critics when it came out in 1980.  Ironically though, "Cruising" by Friedkin also came out the same year and was better received. The cinematography by Gordon Willis on this one is absolutely top-notch and flawless.

Hmm...did the crazy lady flatten the cat before she stuffed it in the freezer?  1:05:02

Saw that when it came out. Still not a good movie. Actors certainly worked hard, though.

Yuch!  She did it really well, she was repulsive.  Interesting to see the tables turned and have a psycho-sex-beast female for a change.  Thank you for sharing.  Don't forget to draw your drapes at night boys and girls.

Thank you SO much for posting this movie; haven't seen it in about 25 years. Ever notice Brenda Vaccaro and Elizabeth Ashley look similar and have similar sounding husky voices.
