is this a remake? cos theres an indian bollywood flick with a very similar premise and that was released in 94! actor, meets hard knock cop, uses him to learn to play the role, gets involved in real crime etc etc.

A horrible trailer for a great movie... This trailer must be the reason why it didn't do very well at the box office in spite of the great reviews and audience reactions.

biggest gap between film quality/trailer quality ever. This is probably the worst trailer I've ever seen, the movie is basically flawless. There's not much to work with though, without the use of "fuck" you must have to edit pretty horribly.

god the trailer looks so awful. is this film really worth watching? i've heard that it's good a couple of times and I know a breaking the 4th wall scene from it which I also liked but I was sick of the trailer at 1:20 already. It's like HAHA THIS CRAZY SUMMER BLOCK BUSTER! The way its edited and everything just makes me puke.

Entertainig film. Worth watching once. SPOILERS: this film was so focused on the snappy witty dialogue BUT the characters had no depth. The female lead had a tragic back-story involving her sister but doesn't seem that devastated by her sudden death. Then when Downey is wrongly told that she died too(who is his childhood dream girl) he also doesn't seen that concerned. Maybe it's bad acting or poor direction but again no depth to the characters at all so it's hard to care about them.
