Description Winston arrives at NYU as a freshman, knowing he's gay and wondering where that fact will lead him. He falls hard for Tom, his temporary roommate who's soon to leave for L.A., and it's a big risk to express these feelings. Meanwhile, temptations and opportunities abound in the Village: sex in public toilets, uninhibited people at parties, and knowing Act-uppers. Plus, there are misinterpreted signals, like the ones Winston gets from a Moonie. With help from his hometown friend Anne, Winston keeps his equilibrium and finds the perfect place to meet someone: the Judy Garland rack at Tower Records.

I stopped about half way through because these idiot writers and directors believe that to have a good gay centered video you have to have a bad guy, a jerk.  You *ssholes need to understand that not every gay boy must fight against this type of stupid sh*t. I won't watch the rest of it, because you have proven that this is just another cheap badly acted vision you have of reality.  So, my word for you is FO.

I think I can explain the title A friend of Judy s a fan of judy garland . gay men have created a cult following for garland who played the character Dorothy in wizard of Oz .thus a friend of Dorothy is just code for a gay man !

  • ComeliaO7 2014-08-21 08:07:39
Okay! That's what that title means. I've always seen the clip from the last ten minutes. I thought Dorothy was someone they knew. Makes sense now.

OK, am I the only one who found this short nauseatingly cliche and obtuse? Cute actors and all, but Babs, Midler & Cher?? Come on! It's like everything we fought for and achieved in the 80's is washed away in a tidal wave of stereotypes. We listen to everything from Kiss to Kid Rock. From Dolly Parton to Paulo Nutini. We now live in a world where politicians & pro athletes can come out of the closet with some relative degree of comfort because of the strides made over the last 30yrs and story lines like this and most of the crap on LOGO (not all) just keep chipping away at that success bit by bit. Elevating people like Johnny Weir to role model status only feeds the stereotype that all gay men are swishy & effeminate. The vast majority of us cannot be "easily identified" in a crowd. We are athletes, laborers, Military (active & Veterans). We are business owners and philanthropists. We are the guy/girl next door. We are also the champions for the weak, weary, confused youth who get battered and abused because of stereotypes that are reinforced by pieces like this short film. I'm sure it was produced with the best of intentions, but IMHO, it sets the cause back at least 20-25 years. Sorry if this bums anybody out, but reality sometimes does that. OK. Rant (I mean critique) over. Thanks for reading! =]

Three intercut stories about outsiders, sex and violence. In "Hero," Richie, at age 7, kills his father and flies away. After the event, a documentary in cheesy lurid colors asks what Richie was like and what led up to the shooting. In the black and white "Horror," a scientist isolates the elixir of human sexuality, drinks it, and becomes a festering, contagious murderer; a female colleague who loves him tries to help, to her peril. In "Homo," a prisoner in Fontenal prison is drawn to an inmate...
