Description In July 1789, the French Revolution is rumbling. Far from the turmoil, at the Château de Versailles, King Louis XVI, Queen Marie-Antoinette and their courtiers keep on living their usual carefree lives. But when the news of the storming of the Bastille reaches them, panic sets in and most of the aristocrats and their servants desert the sinking ship, leaving the Royal Family practically alone. Which is not the case of Sidonie Laborde, the Queen's reader, a young woman, entirely devoted to her mistress; she will not give her up under any circumstances. What Sidonie does not know yet is that these are the last three days she will spend in the company of her beloved Queen...

Though you have to wonder if lesbianism is the initial impression they meant to deliver, having it made into such diversity. Put two of the same gender in one room holding hands at a time when homosexuality is scolded, and you know that they know. Perhaps people are more enraged about the 'intentions' that lie in interactions that are meant to be pure and not performed to bring controversy or spiked out of hatred to bring 'awareness'. But intentions are never clear, so it is best not to judge.

sexuality is not a box, there's not need to label it and Marie Antoniette's sexual orientantion is uncertain, as a human, she is capable of loving and maybe, she loved a woman and she loved a man, does that make her bisexual? we'll never know, she is the only one who could have answer that question and she died in 1793. Stop arguing about her sexuality, it doesn't matter, remember her as the intelligent and special woman she was, not who she loved.

I only saw the last half hour on Starz the other day. What I saw of it was good.

What. The. F*ck. That is not even close to the real events of Marie-Antoinette. She loved Axel von Fersen. But even so, she never had an affair because she did not want to be a mistress just like the previous King's mistress- Du Barry. Marie did not love any woman, but was thought to love the princess de Lamballe. This just continues to give a bad wrap and false look on a misunderstood child who had to grow up without any guidance or mercy.

I suppose we should just stick to watching the trailers, as most are put together better than the actual film.

what does this movie have anything to do with what you just said here..........
  • StrongImaginationA 2013-07-26 15:26:53
Absolutely! I put my words very bluntly in my previous reaction, I did not mean that sexuality is defined ONLY by how you act - however most people do define it like that (I think). For example, when a man and a woman are in a relationship, people will assume they are both heterosexual, while one or both can just as well be bisexual.

But a person can have a sexuality and be a virgin. People don't have to have had sex to feel strong attractions and romantic feelings towards someone.

Coco is generally reckoned to have been bisexual though, or at least to have had a female lover or two.

"I don't see why she could not love another woman and be heterosexual." --Because heterosexuals don't fall in love with or have sex with people of the same sex. Pick up a dictionary.

I'm not surprised it has so many great reviews and awards, it has beautiful fantasy lesbians. Lea Seydoux is the current lesbian-it-girl in movies today.

I've scanned all the comments however I realize that is a brilliant clip. My sibling would like to become spectacular with chicks. He uncovered a fuck load from a web-site called Master Attraction. (Google it if you want pretty good emails on picking up girls.) The advice with regards to picking up chicks at clubs from Master Attraction got him his first sexual encounters in 3 yrs. I've been bothered though as I heard them all.

Just seen the film premiering in Sydney,Australia. I must admit that trailer is very deceiving! This film is so much about nothing.Even biggest French history enthusiasts would find this film irrelevant. It was sheer disappointment by whole crowd in the cinema when they saw credits rolling.I am sick of all these sandbox, low budget films putting themselves with help of trailers like some masterpieces, getting few awards and nominations on meaningless film festivals.Important is featured nudity :-(
  • lizzyll9 2013-06-07 03:55:15
Uh, yes? The trailer clearly shows the sort of sacrifice that Sidonie makes at the end for the queen.
