LOVED this movie. No stereotypes, shows that when your best friend comes out as gay, they are still the same person

This wasn't the funniest film or the most memorable but it was very refreshing in it's incorporation of a gay protagonist without it becoming a 'gay' film. It's always a little frustrating to only find gay leads within the fringes of film in cult, low budget or just plain old 'gay' genre films. Gay guys don't exist and grow up on the fringes of society. They obviously go to the same schools and colleges as everyone else and spend most of their day with straight people.... In a way you can say they grow up in a straight world, but of course it's better to not label it at all. Gay guys are there in all shapes and sizes and characters just like guys.... because that's exactly what they are.... guys. Coming out as gay doesn't then suddenly remove them from the so called 'straight world' that they have always been part of. They grew up and are part of the same world as everyone else so its great to see them being reflected within it in that vein in mainstream film. It's important for gay guys growing up to see.. and even more so for straight guys so they can better acknowledge and understand a perspective within popular culture that they can otherwise never really find themselves considering. It makes those guys (and girls of course) who are gay feel a lot more part of those societies that they grow up in. As a gay guy i'm very grateful for films like this.

Why don't they ever get kids to play this movies, really? I am 22 now and I swear these high school kids look a lot older than me.

i think this is a cool and bold premise addressing the fluidity of sexuality and having it be a comedy means homophobes might actually watch, probably to call dudes fags and laugh but maybe they'll retain something horay!

    Head On (1998)

Nineteen-year-old Ari confronts both his sexuality and his Greek family. Ari despises his once-beloved parents, former radical activists, for having entombed themselves in insular tradition. Ari is obsessed with gay sex, although he does make an unenthusiastic attempt to satisfy the sister of one of his best friends. While all of this is going on, he's facing problems with his traditional Greek parents, who have no clue about his sexual activities.
