Description Since a road accident left him with serious facial and bodily scarring, a former TV scientist has become obsessed by the marriage of motor-car technology with what he sees as the raw sexuality of car-crash victims. The scientist, along with a crash victim he has recently befriended, sets about performing a series of sexual acts in a variety of motor vehicles, either with other crash victims or with prostitutes whom they contort into the shape of trapped corpses. Ultimately, the scientist craves a suicidal union of blood, semen, and engine coolant, a union with which he becomes dangerously obsessed.

I know Cronenberg's films are always edgy, but I've heard this title in passing and I think it was with some pretty extreme films.  Obviously as far as shock cinema goes there are different degrees, but in anyone's opinion, is this part of the shock film genre?  If so, where does it fall between, say, A Serbian Film (quite extreme, still attempting to purge those images) and Clockwork Orange (bit more mainstream)

And wanting to have sex after a crash is no more than a rush of adrenaline which your body interpets to sex. Its the same as railing your gf after you lose a couple cops in your car. The excitement, the thrill, the danger of getting hurt or caught. Make a little more sense now?

@benzlover55, and you probably thought soul plane deserved an Oscar. Cronenbergs films are always provocative and different. Watch the brood, scanners and videodrome. And when your empty inside an exciting car crash can be a sexual release. You obviously haven't read about the lengths ppl go thru for sexual stimulation when they can't get it from normal sex. They need a new outlet usually a dangerous and illegal one.

    Shiner (2004)

Raising the subtext of "Fight Club'' into text, "Shiner'' depicts a pair of amateur boxers gratified by punching each others' lights out. Theirs is among a trio of twisted love stories in the narrative feature by 29-year-old Los Angeles director Christian Calson. There's also a woman literally fighting her male lover's affections and another boxer who stalks his own shy male stalker. "Shiner'' transcends sadomasochism in that no one seems aware of what he or she is doing. "I'm trying to look at...
