I wish you all well. I have sympathy for you all as 2 of my 3 brothers had this problem  I agree that consenting adults should do what they want. I just don't want to hear about it. I never spoke publically about this issue till Hollywood went on the war path with tons of primetime propaganda. Society will never completely accept homosexuality. If this were not true George Clooney Tom Cruise and John Travolta would have come out of the closet years ago.  Further while I concede this life style comes naturally it does not make it desirable. If a man wants to play the role of a woman do we treat him as a woman? By this logic if a man thinks he is a horse we should let him enter the Kentucky Derby. Many life styles come naturally but we can't accept them all. If we did we'd have to accept necrophilia,Pedophilia, murder and every other inclination known to man. There was a funeral owner in my town that was caught putting light bulbs to warm up dead women. To him it was natural. If the women before she died said it was ok should we let him do her?   Men and women are like Lego blocks. they were designed to fit a certain way. The anal part of our body is for waste to exit and the mouth for food and water to enter. You can tell yourself just about anything to justify your actions. Man is the only creature that can lie to himself.

The book was a very pleasant read.  Marlo was awesome in this!  I think this, back when it first came out (no pun intended) was the first gay-themed (G-rated) movie I had ever seen.

I first seen this movie in Australia in 1988, I never forgot it, I was 21 at the time and I had not come out at that stage, brilliant movie and how cute is Barry Tubb

In my mind I'm imagining this as Jasper Fant talking about Dish Boggett (Lonesome Dove) :)

I was 14 when this aired and even though only seeing it that one time I remember every scene and almost line. I knew I was gay and this was the first thing I had ever seen that I truly understood. The other film of the era that moved me was Making Love. Nothing until Brokeback Mountain moved me to the same degree.

This powerful movie was very well done for that time, I still have it on a VHS tape , Marlo Thomas and Barry Tubb are so good and Martin Sheen as his father is brilliant, hard to watch him reject his son after he finds out, but, very realistic , the ending makes up for it, Consenting Adult came out the same year as An Early Frost, another well done powerful film , think it's on DVD .

I love that movie. Why don't they release it on DVD? And this is one of the best parts of the movie. Thanks for posting!

I thought this was such a powerful movie when I saw it on TV. I was struggling with my own "gayness" at the time and this movie helped me.

Aww. Sadly, I haven't felt this way abut a man since I was maybe 21-22 :( The giddy, fluttery feeling fades with age That,s what they should tell kids. Have your crushes and take chances. Rejection be damned!

Gay Sex in the 70s (2005)

Thirteen men and one woman look back at gay life and sex in Manhattan and Fire Island - from Stonewall (June, 1969) to the first reporting on AIDS (June, 1981). They describe the rapid move from repression to celebration, from the removal of shame to joy, the on-going search for "someone," the freedom before AIDS, the friendships, and brotherhood. They take us through cruising and sex in public places, the drug scene, the bars and the baths, the birth of entertainment and dance clubs, and...
