Description Paris, spring 1968. While most students take the lead in the May 'revolution', a French poet's twin son Theo and daughter Isabelle enjoy the good life in his grand Paris home. As film buffs they meet and 'adopt' modest, conservatively educated Californian student Matthew. With their parents away for a month, they drag him into an orgy of indulgence of all senses, losing all of his and the last of their innocence. A sexual threesome shakes their rapport, yet only the outside reality will break it up.

This is one of the most obnoxious/annoying things about certain youtubers; you leave comments inviting discussion for all to see then later make asinne statements, like the one you just made, displaying he/she is being harassed. Before I do stop chatting, you could have called me many things but why "pretentious"? I don't see where you got that from from me disagreeing with your questionable taste.

Eva Green lost her virginity in this movie..
  • EarlRegent 2012-09-29 02:21:15
Pretence being disguised and more pretence. It was so obvious and almost like glaring into the mind of an American Monarchy love between the ages of 18-28. That's what it ultimately was.
  • EarlRegent 2012-09-29 02:19:13
That is my point, they are not in any way the same type of films for starters. Secondly, since we are all taking the the role of critiques, there is the very relevant question of taste. Marie Antoinette was an unimaginably awful movie and I explained why. I could smell the American flavour to every second of it's filming and that did not work for the subject matter and it certainly flopped as a an attempt to make a European film.
  • EarlRegent 2012-09-29 01:27:01
So understand the great Irony here. You appreciate European films yet you bring up in the same paragraph as this good work. Marie Antoinette is Americanised from the soundtrack to the fantasy interpretation of the real story. If a movie was made about Thomas Jefferson as a pole dancer, with obvious attempts at European filming strategy then could you really call that a good movie with all seriousness? Unless it's a comedy of course. The movie in question was intended to be a serious film.

Lol! The only good thing about that absolutely horrible and wannabe American(Yes American directed film) Marie Antoinette is Kirsten Dunst. It as not just horrible but is practically a different universe from the historical reality. You want to tweak a supposedly serious historical film then by all means; if you want to replace it with a completely different story then what's the point? Silly.

Amazingly charming film at times and absolutely uncomfortable at other times. It sure does have the spirit of late 60's Paris.

Really good film, great soundtrack, great acting and a beautiful setting. I guess if you don't like nudity or sex though it's not for you though that's not really the point of the film there is a lot of it. But watch it and decide for yourself :)
